"We're focused on making the transition from military service to the civilian workforce a little bit easier and we believe the virtual approach is a great tool for those transitioning out," said Evan Guzman, Head of Military Programs & Veteran Affairs for Verizon. "We have career opportunities around the country. Service members are serving our customers today as Cell Technicians, Solutions Specialist, Network Operations Managers, Engineers and many other areas of the business."
While Verizon's first-ever nationwide Virtual Career Fair was held in July of 2015, this offers a unique opportunity to focus on women in the active-duty military, reserves, and veterans. It will allow job seekers to connect and chat live with recruiters about jobs available in Customer Service, Retail, network engineering, and IT. Verizon has global offices located in 150 countries across 2,700 cities.
The effort follows the company's recent announcement that it eliminated the minimum plan requirement for active, former and retired members of the military to receive a 15% discount on postpaid monthly wireless service. Verizon automatically applied the discount to more than 100,000 eligible accounts identified as belonging to current and former military men and women.
In addition to the 15% discount for service members and veterans on monthly wireless plans, Verizon also offers them a 25% discount on accessories like select chargers, cases, and extended batteries and 12% off select calling features, such as International Travel to Mexico and Canada, HUM by Verizon, and Tech Coach.
Verizon also offers military discounts on Fios Triple Play and Double Play bundles. Eligible active-duty service members, veterans, reservists and federal government employees can take advantage of great offers like $120 off per year on Fios Triple Play with Internet, TV and Home Phone, or $60 off per year on Fios Double Play and High Speed Internet (HSI) Double Play bundles.
Verizon Wireless has great options to keep and manage accounts and numbers while active members of the military are deployed, such as no charge to suspend service or reconnect service. For more than 20 years, Verizon leadership has had the guidance of the Veterans' Advisory Board of Verizon, an employee resource group of combat veterans representing the company on issues such as employment and health care.
