A message from Michael Mason, chief security officer of Verizon:
Our nation was founded on the basic ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but these essential tenets of our society have never been guaranteed. Our freedoms and rights must be protected and preserved by law enforcement officers who stand ready, day and night, to ensure that our laws are fairly and universally observed and applied to all.
I served as an FBI agent for more than two decades, and had the honor of serving with and leading thousands of Special Agents across the country. I also had the privilege of working with hundreds of police officers from police departments large and small and with many federal law enforcement agencies. When we worked together, the badges that identified our agencies became unimportant as we truly became one team, one mission.
This week, National Police Week, reminds me once again why I am so proud to continue to work with and support our law enforcement partners here at Verizon. These men and women help protect communities across the country and when they require our assistance, we embrace an immediate shared sense of urgency to solve the challenge which confronts them. We are also extremely proud to be the technology provider of choice for many first responder organizations, being there when lives are on the line to ensure that those who are in need can get the help they require. We rely on them, and we are honored that they rely on us.
I hope you will join me this week in thanking the police officers who protect your community, just as Verizon does all year long. We offer special discounts to members of the law enforcement community, recognize fallen heroes and we continue to support the National Law Enforcement Museum to preserve and explore the legacy of police officers around the country. We are also a sponsor of the Museum’s candlelight vigil, to honor those 144 officers who were laid to rest last year, which I hope you will take a moment and watch.
Thank you for all you do to support our brothers and sisters in blue, and all of our nation’s military and first responders.
