I. SERVICE DESCRIPTION: Private IP Layer 2 uses Virtual Private Wire Service (VPWS) technology to provide point-to-point routing and allows Customer to both retain control of routing and architectural and topology changes, which distinguishes this Layer 2 service from Private IP Service, which uses Layer 3 technology. Private IP Layer 2 provides point-to-point connectivity with frame-relay encapsulation utilizing Company's Private IP MPLS network for transport. Private IP Layer 2 does not require Customer to share IP routing information with Company. Customer is able to run protocols other than IP, and retains full control of all routing protocols. Encapsulation is the inclusion of one data structure within another structure so that the first data structure is hidden during transportation across the Private IP Service MPLS network (PIP Network).
1. Connection. The Private IP Layer 2 connection is a network node, consisting of access from a Frame Relay or ATM port to the PIP Network. Private IP Layer 2 Service uses one or more PVC connections to a PIP Network switch. Customer must separately procure equipment necessary to support the Private IP Layer 2 Service at Customers premise and local access connections. Customer must subscribe to Private IP Layer 2 Service on a Bundled Port basis.
II. DEFINITIONS: In addition to the Online Definitions, the following apply to Private IP Layer 2 Service:
Bundled Port: The port as well as one or more Private IP Layer 2 PVCs originating on the port.
Network Node: A frame port connection and the PVCs assigned to such port connection.
PVC (permanent virtual circuit): Private IP Layer 2 PVCs are PVCs supporting Layer 2 connectivity between two specific Private IP Layer 2 ports.
VPWS (Virtual Private Wire Service): VPWS provides a point-to-point connection between Company provider edge switches.
III. FEATURES AND OPTIONS: The following features are available:
1. Ethernet Class of Service (COS). Ethernet COS allows the Customer to assign six traffic priorities to PIP Layer 2 Ethernet frames.
COS 0, COS 1, COS 2, COS 3, COS 4, COS 5. The PIP network handles the traffic assigned to these priority classes based on IEEE standards. Before traffic leaves Customer's Premises, the Customer premises equipment (CPE) assigns traffic to a COS traffic priority class. At PE ingress, the PIP Layer 2 network will perform per-packet sorting into the appropriate queue based on the IEEE 802.1p 3-bit field setting that the Customer applies at his CPE device. Note that the PIP Layer 2 service does not examine any higher-layer (above Layer 2) protocol header. The CE to PE circuit has a CoS policer assigned to the COS 5 traffic for CAR enforcement. At egress, the queuing for Ethernet COS follows the same egress queuing model as PIP L3 DiffServ. The chart below shows the respective IEEE names used for these classes and the mapping to the equivalent IETF Layer 3 class of service.

Customers who order COS 5 by subscribing to a Gold CAR may order it at a speed that is less than or equal to 90 percent of the port speed.
2. Layer 3 PVC
3. Network Based Reporting. Customer will be charged via Event Monitoring on the Verizon Enterprise Center for Network Based Reporting.
4. Verizon Enterprise Center (VEC). Verizon Enterprise Center features.
5. Dissimilar Endpoints. The Dissimilar Endpoints feature provides Customer with the option of selecting different encapsulations (Frame Relay or ATM) on the ingress and egress end of a Private IP Layer 2 permanent virtual circuit (PVC). The Dissimilar Endpoints feature will only support Frame Relay or ATM packets with an IP payload and it is not available for Customers non-IP packets. Customer must select the Dissimilar Endpoints feature when ordering Private IP Layer 2 Service.
IV. RATES AND CHARGES
1. U.S. Mainland Charges. Charges for Private IP Layer 2 include monthly recurring charges (MRC) and non-recurring charges (NRC). As indicated below, certain services are priced on an individual case basis (ICB) or are not available (N/A).
1.1 Domestic Private IP Layer 2. MRCs vary according to port speed and apply to Bundled Private IP Layer 2 Ports (including Bundled Subrate DS3/E3 ports) provided within the contiguous United States. Bundled Private IP Layer 2 Port means the ingress or egress port as well as one or more Private IP Layer 2 Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) originating on the port (either Frame Relay or MultiLink Frame Relay). Private IP Layer 2 PVC/EVCs support Layer 2 connectivity between two specific Private IP Layer 2 ports. Customer will pay the MRCs for Bundled Private IP Layer 2 Ports as specified below.

VI. SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT
Private IP Service Global Service Level Agreement
The SLA sets forth Customers sole and exclusive remedies for any claim relating to the Private IP Layer 2 or Companys network, including any failure to meet any service level set forth in the SLA. Company will determine in its sole reasonable discretion what records and data will be the basis for all SLA calculations and determinations. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, the maximum amount of credit in any calendar month under the SLA will not exceed the amount that, absent the credit, would have been charged for Private IP Layer 2 that month. Private IP Layer 2 SLA is available, at Companys option, to Customers with a minimum of a one-year Term commitment and a total of three or more Private IP Layer 2 circuits and is applicable at all data speeds up to and including DS3.
