⏱️Jerry Dowdy’s passion is living life to the fullest, which means forget about yesterday and live each day like it’s your last. He’s a people person extraordinaire, which is how he ended up in the unique position he holds in Business & Government Customer Operations.


💼 How long have you worked for Verizon?

15 years.

🦄 You’ve called yourself a “unicorn” with regard to your role. How so?

I’m one of only three people in the company who are embedded with our largest corporate or government customers. I represent Verizon onsite at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Nuclear Facility in Aiken, South Carolina.

⚡ What do you do for the DoE?

I handle equipment orders, make sure devices are prepped, and support the DoE’s mobility group. I get the unique opportunity to see the business as an employee but also from our customer’s perspective.

❤️ What’s the best thing about your job?

Helping customers. I’ve worked on the phones and in stores ... in fact, I’ve helped customers in every job I’ve had at Verizon and I love it.

🦗 And when you’re not working?

I have been singing since I was knee-high to a grasshopper!

🎤 Where is the most interesting place you’ve sung?

Cape Coast in Ghana, where the African slave trade originated. I stood in front of the Door of No Return and sang for my people.
