The results of the fifth Verizon Ashburn Recycling Rally are in, and Northern Virginians outdid themselves this year, unloading 68,343 pounds of electronic waste. That’s 34 tons of TVs, printers, desktop PCs, VCRs, DVD players and a few eight-track tapes (seriously) that won’t be clogging landfills.
More than 550 green Virginians contributed to this year’s rally, with a steady line of vehicles throughout the day. The e-haul filled five semi-trailers and one panel truck. The last truck pulled out of the Ashburn campus parking lot around 10:30 p.m. that night.
Overall, the five Ashburn rallies have collected more than 191,000 pounds of electronic waste, or more than 95 tons.
From recycling rallies to the $140 million investment to date in on-site green energy, Verizon is committed to improving the quality of life – and our carbon footprint – in the communities where we live and work.
