BASKING RIDGE, N.J. Verizon has teamed up with the LCS, Riot Games’ professional League of Legends esports league in North America, as the league’s Official 5G Wireless and Network Service Partner. The three-year partnership will allow Verizon to work with Riot Games and the LCS to transform the gaming experience for developers, players and fans alike. The partnership kicks off June 12 with Verizon’s sponsorship of the LCS’s summer season and allows for a long-term opportunity for 5G innovation and content collaboration. Verizon also joins the LCS broadcast as the first-ever presenting partner for Academy Rush, an NFL RedZone-style segment featuring simultaneous matches from the LCS’s minor league, and as a partner on post-LCS match interview segments.
Most recently, Verizon showcased its dedication to gamers and fans by keeping the community connected during the COVID-19 pandemic through Pay It Forward LIVE, a weekly music and gaming streaming series in support of small businesses that garnered nearly 90 million views throughout the 10 weeks of the series. Nearly 40 million viewers tuned in to the weekly gaming events featuring esports pros.
