ENERGY STAR certified household appliances are well-rounded investments that can save money and energy. But do you know that not only household items can be ENERGY STAR certified? Buildings can be as well.

Buildings that are ENERGY STAR certified save energy, money and protect the environment by generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions. In order to earn the ENERGY STAR certification, a building must meet strict energy performance standards set by the EPA.

Verizon, which has more than 150 ENERGY STAR certified buildings, was named Energy Star partner of the year again in 2014, and leads the wireless industry in ENERGY STAR certifications among wireless service providers. Being recognized by Energy Star means a lot to our business, and here are a few reasons why:

  • The average building wastes 30 percent of the energy it consumes because of inefficiencies.
  • When a building is certified ENERGY STAR, it means that a concerted effort was made to find many of those inefficiencies and fix them.
  • ENERGY STAR labeled buildings use 35 percent less energy and generate 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared with similar buildings.

Protecting the environment to make the planet even better tomorrow than it is today is in all our hands. We welcome your suggestions and partnership. You can make a pledge today by visiting www.energystar.gov/verizonpledge.
