Verizon recently launched a campaign showing how seemingly harmless words spoken to young girls carry unexpected messages and consequences. The video encourages parents not only to tell their daughters that they are pretty, but pretty brilliant, too. The video has gone viral.
Our Role in STEM
Almost all 30 of the global economy-driving and fastest growing jobs require proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
To help address the general STEM knowledge gap and foster dynamic learning environments that excite children about STEM, our company supports a number of educational initiatives including Verizon Innovative Learning Schools, which help teachers in underserved areas with professional development and the Verizon Innovative App Challenge contests.
Earlier this year, the Verizon Foundation also launched a large-scale, $100 million multi-year program to help use technology to deliver change in the way teachers teach and students learn and to ignite interest in STEM.
Parents want the best for their children and we are committed to inspiring young minds, specifically girls, to help build a brighter future by getting involved with STEM.
Let’s work together to help make this happen … inspired minds can change the world.
