Walk into the Grafton Country Store in central Massachusetts and you may feel like you’re on the set of “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Located off the town common in a quintessential New England community, the country store features white lace curtains, original wainscoting, and a front counter that used to serve as the front desk of the historic Wayside Inn.
“So we decided that we would start with Verizon and they’d be the foundation and we’re going to grow with Verizon.”
An antique crank telephone wouldn’t look out of place here. But there isn’t one. Instead, the Grafton Country Store, which was built in 1806, features the most technologically advanced telecommunications service available to small business. It has FiOS.
At one time, the country store had Internet service as creaky as its pine floor boards. But when proprietor Carol Dauphinais bought the store last spring it was time to modernize at least one part of the store.
“Something happened to the system and I had to call [my previous Internet provider] and they actually had to call Verizon to come fix it,” said Carol. “So that process took three days. I don’t have three days. I have to have immediate service if something is wrong.”
That’s why she decided to switch to FiOS.
“I needed information at my fingertips for the business to grow,” said Carol. “So we decided that we would start with Verizon and they’d be the foundation and we’re going to grow with Verizon.”
Carol’s daughter Maisy, who works at the store, said FiOS has helped immeasurably in being able to research products and vendors and with inventory control. And the powerful in-store wi-fi service is an added benefit for customers stopping into the café side of the store.
Carol said she enjoys a “terrific relationship” with Verizon. “With [my other Internet provider], I used to call them all the time for service.”
And now?
“I needed service once from Verizon,” said Carol. “I spoke to Mark [my Verizon sales agent] and 10 minutes later two Verizon technicians showed up at my door.”
