Verizon customers can connect with those in the Caribbean for free

NEW YORK – As the Caribbean continues to be battered by Hurricane Irma, Verizon is extending its support to our U.S. customers who are concerned about family and friends. With Irma's path now heading towards Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas, as well as Florida and other parts of the U.S, Verizon is extending its initial offer of free wireless and wireline calling from the U.S. to extend through September 10, 2017 and now includes the Bahama Islands. The company is committed to helping our customers stay connected and will provide additional support for those in the U.S. who are preparing for the impact of this historic storm. Once we are able to better assess where the impact will be, we are prepared to provide data relief for our customers in the hardest hit areas in the U.S.

  • Home wireline telephone customers will incur no charges to Anguilla, The British Virgin Islands; Puerto Rico; Dominican Republic; Haiti; Turks and Caicos and now the Bahamas, from their U.S. landlines from September 6 through 10, 2017 (applicable taxes and surcharges will apply).
  • Wireless post-paid customers will incur no charges for texts or international long distance calls originating from the U.S. to  Anguilla, The British Virgin Islands; Puerto Rico; Dominican Republic; Haiti; Turks and Caicos and now the Bahamas, from September 6 through 10, 2017 (applicable taxes and surcharges will apply).

Wireless communication is essential during severe weather, which is why the Verizon network team prepares year round to ensure a superior network experience, especially during and after severe weather. As it did during Hurricane Harvey, Verizon’s network is well prepared to serve its customers in the U.S.
