Download and view your personal data file from the Verizon Privacy Dashboard

Sign in to the Verizon Privacy Dashboard.

    Overview

    You can use the Verizon Privacy Dashboard or our dedicated privacy toll-free number 800-333-3972 to request a download of your personal information under the CCPA. It may take us up to 45 days to gather your information. Below is an overview of how to download and view your information.

    When your download file is complete:

    • If you have an SMS capable mobile device, you will receive a text message that your file is ready for download and provided a link to the Verizon Privacy Dashboard. Once at VPD, there will be a link to retrieve the password. Please note: your file will expire from the Verizon Privacy Dashboard within 15 days from "Your File is Ready" notification and if not downloaded within that period, you will have to initiate a new data download request.
    • If you don't have a SMS capable mobile device, you will receive a "Your Verizon Download File is Ready" e-mail with a link to the Verizon Privacy Dashboard.

    Below are examples of what your message will look like depending on which one you get. Additionally, if you requested an advanced download via the Toll Free number, the message will include a link to the Verizon Privacy Dashboard screen with a sensitive information consent.

    Download your personal data file

    1. When your download file is ready we will notify you by SMS (text message) and email. If you don't have an SMS-capable device, you'll just receive an email. Follow the link in the message to sign in to the Verizon Privacy Dashboard.
    2. In the "Which Verizon Service Do You Use?" section, select your type of Verizon service.

    3. Sign in using your mobile number/User ID and password.

    4. If you requested your data online, please skip to step (f). If you requested your download file via our dedicated privacy toll-free number at 800-333-3972, you will be presented with the below sensitive information attestation page. Click on Agree and Continue.

    5. You will land on the "Know What you Share with Us" page. Click the click here link in the green banner on the top of the page:

    6. On the "Your File is Ready Page", tap or click Request password.

    7. Tap or click Request code.

    8. You will receive the authorization code via SMS. Enter the code and tap or click Continue.

    9. EXCEL JSON, CSV File Format: If you selected any of these file formats, click Download File on the "For your safety" page:

    10. Copy the password to use once the file is download

    The Excel files can be opened with Microsoft Office, OpenOffice or Google Sheets and you will need the provided password to open the file. When the file is opened, you will see one XLSX file with a unique worksheet tab for each of the personal data categories, including the two Read Me files.

    Refer to 'Open and Understand the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" File' section for instructions on how to view and understand the information in your individual data categories.

    Zipped JSON or CSV Formats Only: Extract and Open the file on a Windows OS Computer

    Note: Since your download file is password-protected, you must have Zip-7 file archiver software to successfully download your file onto a Windows or Macintosh computer. You can download Zip7 for free at https://www.7-zip.org/download.html.

    Mircorsoft Edge

    1. From the "For your safety page" after clicking the Download File button, a pop-up will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click Save.

    2. When the "Download is completed" pop-up appears at the bottom of the screen, click on Open Folder.

    3. The zip folder will appear in your Downloads. Right click on the zip folder and scroll to 7-Zip and click Extract To…

    4. Enter the download file access password you received from the dashboard link.

      Note: Since passwords are randomly generated and contain special characters, copy the password from the webpage and paste it into the "Enter Password" text box.

    5. Click Close.

    6. Double-click on the extracted folder to access individual files.

    7. Double click on each file to open and review your personal information.
    8. Refer to the Open and Understand the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" File section for instructions on how to view and understand the information in your individual download files.

    Google Chrome

    1. From the "For your safety page" after clicking the Download File button, click Save to save the zip folder in your Downloads or a different location on your PC.

    2. The zip folder will appear at the bottom left corner of your screen. Click on the zip folder to open it in your Downloads.

    3. The zip folder will appear in your Downloads. Right click on the zip folder and scroll to 7-Zip and click Extract To…"

    4. Enter the download file access password you retrieved from the dashboard website.

    5. Double-click on the extracted folder to access individual files.

    6. Double click on each file to open and review your personal information.

    7. Refer to the Open and Understand the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" File section for instructions on how to view and understand the information in your individual download files.

    Zipped JSON or CSV Formats Only: Extract and Open the File on a Macintosh Computer

    Since the download file is password-protected, you must have Keka-the MacOS file archiver software to successfully download your file on the Mac computer. You can download Keka-the MacOS file archiver for free at https://www.keka.io/en/.

    1. From the "For your safety" page, click Download file.

    2. Click Allow when you see the pop-up asking if you want to allow downloads.

    3. The ZIP folder you downloaded will appear in the Downloads section at the top right corner of the screen. Click the arrow to view the ZIP file.

    4. In your Mac Finder, click on Recents to find your zipped folder.

    5. Right-click on the folder and under Open With, select Keka.

    6. Select the location to save your file and, on the next screen click Extract.

    7. Enter the download file access password you received from the dashboard link.

      Note: Since passwords are randomly generated and contain special characters, copy the password from the website and paste it into the "Enter Password" text box.

      Click on Done.

    8. The extracted folder will be saved in your selected location. Double-click on the folder to open and review individual files with various categories of personal information.
    9. Refer to the Open and Understand the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" File section for instructions on how to view and understand the information in your individual download files.

    Zipped JSON or CSV Formats Only: Extract and Open the File on an Android Device

    Since the download file is password-protected, you must have the 7Zipper application to successfully download your file on an Android mobile device. You can download the 7Zipper File Explorer application for free by going to the Google play store on your device and searching for:

    1. From the "For your safety" page, tap Download file.

    2. The zipped folder will appear at the bottom of the screen.

    3. Open the 7Zipper app and tap SD Card.

    4. Go to the "Download" folder and double-tap on the folder.

    5. Click on the folder to get an Input Password window. Enter the download file access password you retrieved from the website.

      Note: Since passwords are randomly generated and contain special characters, copy the password from the website and paste it into the "Enter Password" text box.

    6. Double tap on individual files to review your personal information.

      Note: .CSV files are best viewed in a spreadsheets program, such as Google Sheets. This is available for free in the Google Play store.

    Zipped JSON or CSV Formats Only: Extract and Open the File on an iOS Device

    Since the download file is password-protected, you must have the Unzip application to successfully download your file on an Apple IOS mobile device. You can download the Unzip-Zip File Opener application for free at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/unzip-zip-file-opener/id1281374098.

    1. From the "For Your Safety" screen: You will be asked for confirmation of the download. Tap on Download.

    2. The download icon will appear at the top right of the screen.

    3. Tap on a zip file to download it into your iCloud Drive Downloads. When "Downloads" opens, tap on the zip file and hold the folder to see the menu. Select Share from the menu.

    4. Select Open in Unzip.

    5. In the Unzip app, tap on the file.

    6. Enter the download file access password you received from the website. For password reference, see this screenshot.

      Note: Since passwords are randomly generated and contain special characters, copy the password from the website and paste it into the "Enter Password" text box.

      Tap OK.

    Open and Understand the “Read Me Second-Data Guide” File

    1. If you've requested the Excel file format, you will see one XLSX file with a unique worksheet tab for each of the personal data categories, including the two Read Me files.
    2. If you've requested CSV or JSON format, and once extracted, you will see multiple individual CSV, or JSON files containing data for various categories of your personal information. The number of files may vary depending on the category(ies) of personal information you requested and the data available in Verizon systems for each category.     3. In the list of files, you will also see a file titled "ReadMe File."
      1. “Read Me First-Instructions”: a txt file type that provides instructions for the data guide; and
      2. “Read Me Second-Data Guide”- a csv file.
    4. To help you understand the information in your files, the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" File guide contains definitions and descriptions of the data fields/column headings in your download. For example, the label ACCT_NUM in your download will be listed here with the descriptive label "Account Number" along with a definition. Note that some data columns may appear in more than one of your download files.
    5. To view your personal data, double click (or tap) on each individual file to open it. If you need further explanation of the data field you can search the "Read Me File" for that data field to view its description and definition. Follow these instructions to search the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" file to find a description of the data field:
      1. For this example, open the Line Information CSV.

      2. Copy the data field name Date Of Entry from the file.
      3. Open "Read Me Second-Data Guide" file and select entire file.
      4. Press CTRL+F in the "Read Me Second-Data Guide" file and paste Date Of Entry into the search field. Click on Find Next. Column B will have a short business term title and Column C will have a more detailed definition of the data field:

    Avoid Download Extraction Issues - Follow these tips if you have issues extracting your download file.

    1. Use the recommended ZIP apps: Since download files are zipped in a password protected folder, you should always use the software specified in these instructions to extract the content of the zip folder on one or multiple devices:
      1. 7-Zip file archiver to successfully extract your file onto a Windows IOS Desktop or Laptop PC.
      2. Keka-the MacOS file archiver software to successfully extract your file on the Mac computer.
      3. 7Zipper application to successfully extract your file on an Android mobile device and/or
      4. Unzip application to successfully extract your file on an Apple IOS mobile device
    2. Follow the instructions in this guide: To avoid extraction errors, follow the step-by-step instructions in this document specific to your device and a browser in order to successfully extract your files.

    File Displays No Data/ Corrupt

    Note regarding masked data: For security, highly sensitive information in your download file(s) will not be displayed and/or will be masked. Examples of such information are: your credit card information, Social Security number and authentication credentials. These pieces of data will be represented in the file with “Masked for Security” or will be partially masked with zeroes.

    If your files display no data or are corrupt:

    1. Repeat the extraction steps, specifically, re-copy and re-paste the correct extraction password.
    2. Exit the Verizon Privacy Dashboard and Reinitiate File Download & Extraction Steps.
    3. Reboot your Computer or Device.
    4. Uninstall and Reinstall the 3rd Party Software you selected to Download your file.
    5. Download and Extract the File Onto a Different Device.
    6. Check to see what Recovery Tools are included on your Computer’s Operating System.
    7. Reinitiate a new File Download Request using the Verizon Privacy Dashboard.
