To find a good location for a Wi-Fi extender: Use the Wi-Fi Analyzer tool in My Verizon app to figure out where the signal weakens. Place the extender upright, between the router and the area needing a stronger signal. Reduce signal interference by choosing a spot that is: At least 10 feet from cordless phones or microwaves. Away from extreme heat/cold, moisture or excessive dust. Away from large metal objects. Note: If you want better Wi-Fi coverage outside your home, put the extender near an exterior wall. Here’s how to let guests use the Wi-Fi network when you have an extender: Guests can connect directly to your router if the router has Guest Wi-Fi enabled. Guests can only connect through Wi-Fi if the extender is wired to the router. When wired together, the router and extender both broadcast the same Guest Wi-Fi name. Q: The E3200 Extender is broadcasting a different name for my Wi-Fi network than the Gateway does. How can I make the network name the same for both?

If the extender isn't displaying the same name for your Wi-Fi network as the Gateway does, reboot the extender: Unplug the power cable and then plug it back in. Allow 5 minutes for the extender to reboot and display the same Wi-Fi name as the Gateway. If rebooting doesn't work, refer to the User Guide (PDF*) and use manual pairing.
