Activating Your New Verizon Jetpack®

This guide is for both new and existing Verizon Wireless customers who have purchased a new or Certified Pre-Owned 4G LTE Jetpack MiFi, Jetpack Mobile Hotspot, or Ellipsis Jetpack, and have a Verizon 4G LTE SIM card.

For activation instructions for your specific Jetpack model. Visit our Support page for Verizon devices and select your Jetpack.

    Step 1

      Insert your 4G LTE SIM card

      Note: If your new Jetpack came with a Verizon Wireless SIM card already inserted (typical for most Jetpacks purchased from Verizon), go to Step 2: Set up and activate your new Jetpack.

      The location and position of SIM cards varies by device, so for information specific to your device, visit our Support page for Verizon devices and select your Jetpack.

      If you're using a Verizon 4G LTE SIM card that came in your shipment:

      1. Snap the SIM card out of its holder without touching the gold electrical contacts.
      2. Insert the SIM card into your new Jetpack.

      If you're reusing your old Jetpack’s Verizon Wireless 4G LTE SIM card:

      1. Remove the SIM card from your original device without touching the gold electrical contacts.
      2. Make sure the SIM card is the correct size for your new Jetpack.
      3. Insert the SIM card into your new Jetpack.

    Step 2

      Set up and activate your new Jetpack

      1. Write down your Jetpack's Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. You'll find it located in one of three places:
        • On the back of your new Jetpack
        • Under the battery cover
        • On the Jetpack's screen when it's turned on
      2. Visit our Support page for Verizon devices and select your Jetpack. Here you can find instructions for setting up your specific Jetpack model.

      Note: It may take a few minutes to complete activation.

      If you're on a standard monthly plan:

      1. Activation will begin immediately.
      2. To confirm that activation is complete, open a browser on your connected device and go to your favorite website. If you can reach the internet, activation is complete.

      If you're on a prepaid plan:

      1. On your connected device, open a browser to connect to the internet.
      2. You'll be directed to a screen where you can purchase a data plan.
      3. Activation will begin shortly after signing up for service.
