How to use the Verizon Protect app for your online privacy & security

The Verizon Protect app provides access to managing your Digital Secure features. You can safeguard your internet connection and personal data with anti-virus, anti-malware and identity theft protection.

How to update your Digital Secure app to the Verizon Protect app (Android™):

1. Look for a notification from the Google Play™ Store* that says Digital Secure needs an update.
2. Tap the notification and follow the on-screen prompts to update Digital Secure to the Verizon Protect app.
3. Once the update is complete, tap the new Verizon Protect icon to open the app.
4. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions and Permissions in the app to ensure Digital Secure is protecting your device.
5. The update will automatically remove the old icon for the Digital Secure app from your device.

You've successfully updated from the Digital Secure app to the Verizon Protect app.

If you’re subscribed to Verizon Security & Privacy, how to update to the Verizon Protect app (Android):

1. Launch Settings, then Application Manager on your Android device.
2. Select the Digital Secure or Security & Privacy app.
3. Tap on Disable.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall updates and disable the app.
5. Launch the Play Store.
6. Search for and navigate to the Verizon Protect app.
7. Tap Install.
8. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the Verizon Protect app.
9. Once the installation is complete, tap the new Verizon Protect icon to open the app.
10. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions and Permissions in the app to ensure Digital Secure is protecting your device.

You’ve successfully installed the Verizon Protect app.

How to update your Digital Secure app to the Verizon Protect app (iOS):

1. Launch the App Store** on your iOS device.
2. Search for and navigate to the Verizon Protect app.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to update Digital Secure to the Verizon Protect app.
4. Once the update is complete, tap the new Verizon Protect icon to open the app.
5. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions and Permissions in the app to ensure Digital Secure is protecting your device.
6. The update will automatically remove the old icon for the Digital Secure app from your device.

You've successfully updated from the Digital Secure app to the Verizon Protect app.

*The update from the Digital Secure app to the Verizon Protect app takes place from 11/13/24 - 12/12/24, so if you don't see it available, you can check the Google Play™ Store at a later time.
**Apple iPhone® users will be able to download the Verizon Protect app from the App Store starting on 11/13.

There are a number of reasons you might see an error message when you try to access the Verizon Protect app. Only Verizon mobile customers are eligible to utilize the Verizon Protect app.

You might see the error message if you’re a:

• Verizon Prepaid customer.
• Mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) user.
• Verizon employee on a concession device.
• Non-Verizon customer.

If none of these apply to you and you’re still not able to access the Verizon Protect app, please contact us.  

The Verizon Protect app includes tools and resources to safeguard your information.

You can review and manage your personal information through the dashboard:

• Review your Security Rating.
• Explore Security Rating categories.
• Review recommended actions.
  • As you complete your recommended actions, you'll improve your digital security and Security Rating.

You'll have access to the basic Digital Secure features:

• Safe Browsing: Blocks dangerous websites and links.
• Malware Scan: Scans your device for threats (Android only).
• Wi-Fi Scan: Checks if your Wi-Fi network is safe.
• Device Scan: Checks if your device's software is up to date (iOS only).

Follow the steps in the support page, Configure Service Settings in the Verizon Protect app (the new name for the Digital Secure app) in your app store or device.
