Near Field Communications or 'NFC' technology wirelessly exchanges data between an NFC-enabled wireless device and other devices or targets (such as contactless payments devices, facility access readers or interactive advertisements). While NFC alone does not ensure a secure transfer of data, specific applications and services may offer or enable technology that provides reliable and secure channels.
You should protect your device and your data against vulnerabilities such as data theft, device setting manipulation or system corruption, by using passwords, anti-virus or other security software and conducting NFC transactions with caution as NFC may work whether your device is turned on or off. Additionally, most wireless devices provide the ability to manually disable NFC capability through a setting on the device as an option when NFC is not in use.
