The third annual Sustainability and Small Business Summit recently kicked off at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, uniting sustainability leaders and enthusiasts from small and big businesses, the academic community and nonprofits to discuss the benefits and challenges of going green. Through interactive sessions, a common theme emerged: the economic value realized by going green.

Representing the Garden State, the deputy mayor of Jersey City, Vivian Brady-Phillips, revealed that tax abatements and job training are helping the city become more sustainable. “Economic development goes hand in hand with sustainability… It fosters community development,” she said.
