🔥Wildfire updates, coast to coast
Peak threat for wildfire usually occurs from July through August/September. But this year, high winds and lack of rain have led to late-season wildfires on both coasts.
West Coast: The Mountain fire broke out last week in Ventura County and has burned more than 20,000 acres, consumed 134 structures and is currently just 36% contained. Our network is holding strong and the Frontline Crisis Response Team was quick to arrive and provide critical support. No Verizon stores were damaged, and as containment improves, evacuation orders have begun to lift.
East Coast: The uncharacteristically dry and windy fall has contributed to hundreds of wildfires in the Northeastern U.S. Firefighters in the region are currently battling large fires in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and a number of other states.
Yesterday, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team deployed in support of first responders in Massachusetts, delivering a Rapid Response Connectivity Unit in order to provide those on the front lines of fire mitigation efforts with mission-critical communications.

🎖️ Honoring those who served
This month, in conjunction with our Employee Resource Group VALOR, we celebrate Veterans Day and Military Family Month. On Monday, more than 300 V Teamers and their families participated in Veterans Day parades in New York City and San Diego.

Veteran Debt Relief: This holiday season, Verizon and ForgiveCo are proud to announce a transformative partnership to eliminate $3 million dollars in consumer debt for veterans in Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin. From Thanksgiving through Christmas, the program will erase $250,000 in veteran debt each week, per market, for four weeks.
The effort is strengthened by the support of Verizon’s partnerships with the Milwaukee Bucks and the St. Louis Blues. The teams committed to raising awareness and amplifying the impact of this powerful campaign.
Upskilling veterans: We’ve partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project to help more than a thousand veterans enhance their skills through the free Skill Forward program, which offers access to 250+ courses and 80 certificate programs in areas including AI, coding and business. The initiative is part of Verizon's commitment to train 50,000 people by 2030.
Deals for veterans: We have exclusive deals at our Military page for active duty military, veterans and family members, including mobile plans starting at $25/month for four lines on Welcome Unlimited and Fios Home Internet from $45/month, along with personalized phone setup via the Set Up and Go white-glove service.

🎤 Gearing up for the Super Bowl.
If you’re looking for things to do after the holidays, we have something that’s sure to impress: next year’s Super Bowl LIX (that’s 59 if you’re not up on your Roman numerals), set to take place at the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.
Recently Taylor Swift held one of her Eras Tour performances at the venue, giving us the perfect opportunity to test our network ahead of the big game.

💳 Helping the little guys prepare for BIG business
Our network isn’t alone in being put through its paces ahead of the Super Bowl; we partnered with the New Orleans Times-Picayune last month for a special summit aimed at helping small businesses prepare for large-scale events.
