How do I reset my router to the factory default settings?
You may be instructed by a Verizon technical support person to reset your router to clear any existing
properties. You may also have to reset your router to the factory defaults if you have forgotten your router
username or password.

Note: Resetting your router to the factory defaults not only changes your router username and password to
the factory default values, but it also deletes all your home network settings. This includes the SSID and
network encryption key (WEP, WPA or WPA2). After you reset your router to the factory defaults, your home
network won't be accessible until you reconfigure your router and all your network devices to use the same
SSID and encryption key.

To reset your Verizon router:
With the power on (power LED on front panel should be lit green), use the pointed end of a paperclip to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Once you release the reset button, the Verizon router will automatically reboot itself. Wait 15 seconds before resuming setup. Your Verizon MI424WR router is now using the default settings for the network configuration. This includes the default SSID and network encryption key (WEP, WPA or WPA2). You must re-configure your router to match the previous settings that were assigned to all other devices on your wireless network. Otherwise, no other network devices will be recognized.

Connectivity Tips

You can use the Power, DSL and Ethernet lights on the front panel of the Actiontec MI424WR to help diagnose home networking connectivity problems. Follow the steps below to diagnose and test the possible solutions for any connectivity problems you are experiencing.

What do the router status lights indicate?
The router lights indicate connectivity status and can be used to help fix router issues.
Is the power light on?
A solid green power light means the router is powered on.

If there is no light, check that the power switch on the back of the router is "on" and verify the power cord is securely connected to the electrical outlet.
Is the Ethernet WAN light on?
If the Ethernet WAN light is green, this indicates a valid physical connection between the router and Verizon Optical Network Terminal (ONT). If the light is off, verify the cable coming from your ONT is connected to the WAN Ethernet port on the router. If the light is still off, your router is unable to connect to the Verizon Fios service.

Fix connectivity issues
Is the Internet light on?
If the light is solid green, the router is connected to the internet.

If the light is solid red, the router is not connected to the internet.

If there is no light, there is no connection to Verizon or the router is in bridge mode. To learn more, check out the user guide.
If your Verizon router is connected to your computer using an Ethernet cable, are any Ethernet lights on?
If the port light is green, there is a physical Ethernet connection between the router and network device. If the port light is off, no link is established between the router and network device.
Is the wireless light on?
If the wireless light is on, Wi-Fi is enabled. If the light is off, Wi-Fi is currently disabled.
